NVSC is hosting referee classes over the summer in an effort to increase its pool of referees for both travel and recreational league matches.  We want to increase our referee pool for all of our districts, Hellwig, Valley View, Signal Hill and Ben Lomond.

Field sessions will be held at Hellwig Park Field 6 on the following dates:

February 1st, 12pm to 4pm

February 2nd, 12pm to 4pm (rescheduled from Jan 26th)

February 22nd, 12pm to 4pm

As an incentive, NVSC is offering $30 reimbursement toward referee classes once you have completed 8 league matches for NVSC and another $55 for completing 15 additional league matches (resulting in a complete reimbursement of your $85 referee class fee). This reimbursement is for new referees only and refereeing league matches during the NVSC Spring 2025 Season.

To qualify for becoming a referee, you must be at least 13 years old.  The process to become a certified referee consists of an online module followed by an on-field exercise.

First, you must register with the state referee program and complete the online modules.  Once you have completed all the online modules you can transfer into a 4 hour on-field training clinic (one of the ones at Hellwig Park in Aug)

Upon completion of both (online and on-field), you will receive a 2025 referee badge and be eligible to referee or assistant referee both recreational/travel games until December 2025 (at which time you will need to either re-certify or upgrade).

The cost of the class (which includes both the online and field session) is $85.00.

Don’t delay signing up today!

PROCESS:

Register with the state referee program at https://mdcvasrp.omgtsys.com/ .  Click on “New Member Registration.”  Once you have registered as a referee (please note your userid and password for future reference), you then need to register for the “Referee- Grassroots Entry – Online PreClinic” clinic (You should register for the SA-02-00525-PGRE – Referee – Entry Online PreClinic class – located at the bottom of the list of clinics) and pay the $85.00 fee (which covers both the online registration fee and the on-field clinic).   When registering, use an e-mail address that you check regularly since all correspondence regarding the class will be sent via email.  Also, after registering please regularly check your spam to ensure that you are receiving emails from MDCVASRP.

Once the online sessions are complete, you will need to sign up for the field training.  NVSC is scheduling on-field clinics at Hellwig Park Turf Fields, options listed on the referee class website.

But you must finish your online portion first before you can sign up for the on-field session you would like to attend.

If you have any questions, please contact the Area Director of Instructors for the North, Diane Florkowski, at dcva.adinorth@gmail.com  (email Diane ONLY for referee class/session questions)
