Recreational Program

The NVSC Recreational Program consists of co-ed, boys and girls youth leagues which are organized by age group (U04, U05, etc.); and a co-ed adult leagues. These leagues are open to all player’s wanting to participate on a recreational team. Players who will turn four years old by the end of the current soccer year are eligible. The soccer year runs from August 1 of one year to July 31 of the following year.

NVSC has three locations for the recreational program for the convenience of all Prince William County players.  One location is located at Hellwig Park which is off of Route 234 and Bristow Road between Woodbridge and Manassas.  One location is Ben Lomond Park (next to Splashdown Waterpark) in Manassas.  Our newest location is to be held at Valley View Park closer to Route 28 off of Bristow Road and Valley View Drive (the Valley View location will only be for U4 through U10 age groups).

The Recreational Program has two seasons per year, Fall and Spring. Players register by submitting a completed registration form with proper fees.

NVSC also offers a Player Development Academy to its members in the U-7 and U-8 age group (boys and girls). The program is geared toward players that have an interest in the higher level of competition in the Travel Program.

All-star teams are also formed from the players in the Recreational Program and compete in local tournaments.

For information about the NVSC Recreational Program, please email the Recreational Director at vprecreational@novasc.org.

Uniforms:

If your player HAS the correct, current uniform and it fits, you do not need to buy a new uniform, unless stated below.  Please refer to the current uniform pictures available on the Recreational page of the NVSC website. This is the 5th season with the same uniform.

  • u4-u6 - uniform is included in the registration fee; no ordering required
  • u7-u19 - uniform kit is $27 and includes 1-blue jersey; 1-white jersey, shorts, and socks; you must order, and pay for, the uniform when registering if you want a new kit.

Uniform guidance:

  • If your son/daughter is playing U7 (first season) you need to purchase a uniform during registration.
  • If your son/daughter is playing U8 through U19 for the first time with NVSC you need to purchase a uniform during registration.
  • If your son or daughter played in the Fall 2010, Spring 2011 or Fall 2011, and the uniform still fits, you do not need to purchase a uniform.
  • If you have a current uniform without jersey numbers, and your son/daughter is registering to play in u13/14 or older, you need to purchase a new kit. Players in u13 and above require numbers on their jerseys.
  • For u13-u19 Returning players to the same team (from Spring 2011) - you do not need to purchase a new uniform. Anyone returning from previous seasons and still has both jerseys (correct uniform), or players requesting a different team for Spring 2012, must purchase a new uniform IF there is duplicate number on the roster. This can be done separately from registration, once the team rosters for the Fall are established.
  • If your son or daughter has outgrown their jersey you will have the option to purchase a uniform during registration.

SOCCER GOAL SAFETY
ALL GOALS MUST BE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE SECURE, IF NOT, DO NOT USE THEM.
Coaches, managers, players and parents,

Recently, there was an unfortunate incident in Prince William County where an unsecured goal fell over and injured a youth soccer player. I ask you to join NVSC in working together to make this coming season a safe and accident-free season for our players. It is the responsibility of all of us to make that the goals are secured to the ground to prevent them from falling over. This goes for Practice and Games -- under no circumstances should a goal be used if it is not secured. Our coaches and referees have been instructed not to start a game without checking the goals, whether its a home or an away game. Safety extends beyond our home fields and should be a priority no matter where games are played.     All it takes is for a kid to hang on them, for a gust of wind to come up, and while it is an accident, it can be avoided. NVSC has all of the necessary equipment to secure the goals, so there is no reason they should not be secured for play. We need the help of each member of NVSC to make sure that accidents do not happen. Again, this is for both Practice and Games.

For additional information, there are some excellent web sites and below is an excerpt of MYTH vs FACT from the Kwik Goal web site, please click on the Continue.

Again, we ask that all Coaches, Managers, Players, and Parents to support the NVSC goal to make the playing environment safe for our youth.

Bill Gregory
President, NVSC
