NVSC will be sending two to three boys teams to the University of Connecticut to participate in the Elite Level Camp of Ray Reid School of Soccer in Storrs Connecticut. We will be looking at adding a girls camp next Summer during July 2009.
This is a camp designed to provide players with exposure to numerous college coaches while developing and learning what it takes to play at the college level. Sessions are run by division 1 and 2 coaches from the east coast.
NVSC will select a U-14 age group and two 9th to 11th grade teams. The goal is to have each team consist of a roster no less than 13 players.
Tryouts for all those interested will be conducted at the end of May. Training to prepare for this camp will be provided by Hans Etienne an NVSC Staff Coach and Varsity Boys soccer coach at Stonewall Jackson High School.
NVSC is currently working on providing transportation to and from camp through a sponsor. If this falls through, transportation would be free of charge for those attending.

Ray is the head coach of the national powerhouse University of Connecticut men's soccer team. Building on Connecticut's tradition of excellence, Coach Reid led the Huskies to a national championship in 2000. Through eleven seasons, he has compiled an impressive coaching mark of 166-59-18, reaching the NCAA Tournament the last ten years. During Coach Reid's tenure at UConn, the team has been Big East Regular Season Champions six times and won four Big East Tournaments. His UConn players have earned 15 All-American Honors and 55 All-Big East Honors. Prior to UConn, while the head coach at Southern Connecticut State University, Ray won three national championships, posting an overall record of 146-17-15. In 19 years as a collegiate head coach, he has amassed a record of 312-76-33 (.780), making him the active winningest coach by percentage at the Division I level.
