Our 11B Hellwig Dynamo started at the bottom of the top bracket after Saturdays qualifications.  The team disregarded the odds and took on the challenge. In the first 9:15 am semi-final the Dynamo overwhelmed the 4th seed 5-1.  The next challenge was the 1st seed.  After a long hard game Dynamo ended tied with the 1st seed and went to a shootout.  With the winning goal by Geo M. and the outstanding play at keeper by Andrew P. the Dynamo beat the 1st seed! Unfortunately having started at 9:15 am the Dynamo simply ran out of energy in 4:45 pm final.  It was an incredible effort by a talented team that included FOUR U10 players playing up: Andrew P, Brice M., Miguel G. and Joseph R.!

NVSC has an Outstanding Showing at the 2012 Father's Day All-Star Tournament
Posted week of 18 June 2012

NVSC teams did exceedingly well during the 2012 Father’s Day All-Star Tournament.

They had another great tournament with two Champions and four Finalists!  Overall, our teams won 47 games!

Congratulations to all on ending the season in such a great way!

Some reported highlights are below:

- U8 Girls Ben Lomond came in 3rd. Won 3 lost 1. Thanks to all of you for the great year!!!

- U8 Girls Hellwig finished 1st, Won 4 Lost 0.  We ended up being the only undefeated team in our division.  It was a good group of girls.  They had a lot of fun and what a great weekend for it.  Congrats all!

- U8 Blue Sharks came in 1st place in the U8B division, won 3 out 4, and tied 1. This took them to be the undefeated team with most points. The team was so excited and had great fun.

- U9 Girls Ben Lomond came in 2nd – bested Loudon to get to the finals and lost a tough one. It was a fun tournament and everyone had a great time.

- U9 Girls Hellwig came in second after 3 wins went into the finals and lost a tough one. They had a great weekend laughing and having a great time together.

- U10 Girls Ben Lomond (Black Division) won the championship.  Tied third regular game and played team again in championship.  Went down by 1 at half but fought back and scored 2 in the second half to win.  Great weekend.  Very proud of girls and thankful for parents’/family support.

- U10 Boys Ben Lomond (All Star Team Rampage) won the first 2 games, and tied the third game.  Technically we won our braket on goal differential, by 2 goals over the team that advanced out of our division. However the tournament rules do not recognize a goal differential beyond 5 goals, so the team we tied advanced beat us by a single goal. The coaches from both teams that lost to us commented that if the score ended then NVSC Rampage should advance. I think this is a testament to the sportsmanship and respect both the NVSC players and the parents showed all three teams during the tournament.

- U11 Girls Ben Lomond won 2, lost 1 and missed the championship game by one goal. Good pairings for the tournament, but the space between games was a factor.  Everyone had a good time overall.

- U12 Boys Black lost two and won 1.  The boys had a hard fought comeback 2-1 win Sunday morning.  Overall, a great weekend and the boys and parents had a blast.

Jr. Royals 95 Champions in Battlefield Tournament High School Division
Posted week of 9 Oct 2011

The Jr. Royals 95 were on their game and came to play in NVSC’s Columbus Day weekend’s Battlefield Tournament. The Royals 95, a U-16 team, were grouped in the High School division with all their opponents’ age groups ranging from U17-U19. Despite the age and size differences, the Royals 95 more than held their own, impressively winning all their games, scoring 10 goals while only allowing 2.
Even though their opponents did not take well to the idea of being bested by a younger team, the Jr Royals 95 displayed impressive skills, determination, and discipline and let those qualities speak for them on the field.  (See picture in the photo gallery above.)

Go Royals!

Ben Lomond U10 Boys were Finalists

The U10 Boys from Ben Lomond got a great start to the tournament after battling their way through Beltway traffic to arrive just in time for the game. The boys won their first game 5 - 1. Next up, a Saturday afternoon game with the temperature in the 90's and the turf fields heating up the soles of their shoes. A hard fought game resulted in a 1-1 draw. Going in to their final division game the boys needed not only to win, but to win by at least two goals to make the championship game. They left it all on the field and came away with a 3-1 win! The boys were off to the championship game and despite a valiant effort came up a bit short, falling 4-2, but everyone enjoyed the tournament experience.

Outstanding Job!!

Ben Lomond U10G are the Champions!

The Ben Lomond Division U10G Team won the FPYC Championship for the U10G Gold classification. On Saturday morning we defeated SYSA  by a score of 2 to 0, followed by a 3 to 1 win over the CYA team in the afternoon. On Sunday morning we defeated the Loundoun team by a score of 2 to 0, and then capped off the weekend with a 2 to 1 win over the BRYC team. The BRYC game ended in a tie at 1 to 1 and two overtime sessions did not break the tie, so a shoot out was initiated and NVSC came out the victor with the 2 to 1 score.  It was a great weekend for the players, parents and spectators.

U16 Gold are Finalist in the FPYC All-Star Tourney

The NVSC GOLD U-16 Girls competed in the FPYC All-Star Tourney June 18-19. After a slow start and falling behind Shenandoah 2-0 at half time, they turned on the burners in the second half and came back to win 3-2 in their first game of the tourney. Second up was McLean and a strong effort prevailed them to a 3-0 victory. The third game of the round robin was against a club from FPYC, playing a flawless game and executing to near perfection propelled them into the Championship match against PWSI. In a great soccer game that had both outstanding goalie play and defense on both sides, the teams ended regulation at a 0-0 tie. Next came 10 minutes of overtime which was very intense as the teams matched each other kick for kick and the whistle blew ending the game in a scoreless tie. The match was decided in penalty kicks and NVSC fell just short and took second place out of a group of very strong soccer teams. (See pictures in the photo gallery above.)
